Frequently Asked Questions

How do we clean your jib?

We clean your sails in an innovative, sustainable and wear-free way with the Airless Washing Method. We place the sails in a stainless steel vacuum chamber. The machine removes the air and water from the voids between the sail layers, then introduces the cleaning agent that penetrates each layer. The Airless Washing Method also cleans your sails between these layers and the batten pockets and corner reinforcements are also cleaned very intensively.

We then give your jib a protective coating. The ST-1 coating provides a dirt and water-repellent effect, keeping sails clean for longer. The ST-2 coating does something extra by reconnecting the warp and weft threads. This results in a reduction of the diagonal stretch. This particularly benefits the properties of traditional horizontally cut sails. The result: less deformation, better profile, less slope and therefore more boat speed! The sail feels harder and stiffer due to the ST-2 coating.

How does 3.0 work with Airless Washing Method?

Sustainable cleaner and wear-free washing

For several weeks now, we have been cleaning your sails at ZONklare using the revolutionary Airless Washing Method: a method that washes more efficiently, sustainably cleaner and wear-free! The method was developed in the United States and at ZONklare we are proud to be the only one to offer Airless Washing in Europe.

These are the benefits of the Airless Washing Method:

• No irritation/wear
• No 'scrubbing' effect
• No pressure hoses
• System does not use heat
• Significant savings on water consumption.
• Spotlessly clean sails, even between layers

This is how the Airless Washing Method works

We place the sails in a stainless steel vacuum chamber. The machine removes the air and water from the voids between the sail layers, then introduces the cleaning agent that penetrates each layer. The sails are soaked in a vacuum, then rinsed and dried.

Make your sails live longer

The Airless Washing Method is wear-free: the sails are not exposed to 'scrubbing' movements, heat or pressure. Factors that cannot be avoided with regular cleaning methods. The Airless Washing Method ensures a longer lifespan for your sails.

Clean, even between layers

Sails are very susceptible to mold growth because they contain voids between surfaces where water can easily remain. UV covers and reinforcement in the corners allow even more water to penetrate between the bonded surfaces. The Airless Washing Method also cleans your sails between these layers and the batten pockets and corner reinforcements are also cleaned more intensively. Something that never works 100% with the traditional method.

Minimal environmental impact

Another very big plus of the Airless Washing Method is the possibility of reusing water. After use, the water is stored for another wash after filtering and disinfection. This results in a very significant saving on water consumption. Moreover, the added cleaning agent is not discharged after a wash. With the Airless Washing Machine we limit the burden on the environment to an absolute minimum.

Cleaning and Impregnating the Jib for Sustainable Sailing Pleasure

To extend the life of your jib or genoa, regular maintenance is essential. By cleaning your sail and providing it with a protective coating, you not only improve the appearance, but also the performance of your headsail.

Innovative, wear-free cleaning

At ZONklaar we use the advanced Airless Washing Method to clean your sails thoroughly and without wear. In a stainless steel vacuum chamber, air and water are removed from the cavities between the sail layers, after which the cleaning agent penetrates deep into each layer. This method is effective for cleaning both the surface and the spaces between layers, batten pockets and reinforcements.

Protective impregnation for your breeding

After cleaning, we provide your jib with a protective coating, such as the ST-1 coating, which provides a dirt and water repellent effect. If you choose the ST-2 coating, it offers additional benefits, such as strengthening the threads in the sail to reduce diagonal stretch. This ensures less deformation, a better profile and more speed on the water. In addition, the sail with the ST-2 coating feels firmer and stiffer.

Collection point for convenience

For added convenience, you can return your jib or genoa to a ZONklaar Collection Point, such as Bateau Bootservice. We will ensure that your sail is in top condition again, ready for optimum sailing pleasure.
